Program ICT Karnival 2011 di UiTM

24 Mac 2011- Beberapa orang staf FITM telah meraikan makan tengahari bersama-sama di Secret Recipe, Kuala Selangor sempena perpindah tugas Cik Hanisah ke UiTM Arau, Perlis.  Beliau merupakan  pensyarah yang berdidikasi di Fakulti Industri Teknologi Maklumat-UNISEL dan telah berkhidmat lebih 2 tahun di FITM serta juga merupakan salah seorang FELO di UNISEL.  Beliau akan memulakan tugas di tempat baru bermula pada 4 April 2011. Semua warga FITM mengucapkan semoga maju jaya dan terus cemerlang dalam mendidik anak bangsa.

Terima kasih atas amanah dan tanggungjawab yang diberikan oleh beliau di FITM.

KNOWLEDGE MAPPING 

Knowledge mapping is a process by which organizations can identify and categorize knowledge assets within their organization such as people, processes, content, and technology. It allows an organization to fully leverage the existing expertise resident in the organization, as well as identify barriers and constraints to fulfilling strategic goals and objectives. It is constructing a roadmap to locate the information needed to make the best use of resources, independent of source or form.

Knowledge mapping also know as knowledge audit. Knowledge mapping is an important practice consisting of survey, audit, and synthesis. It aims to track the acquisition and loss of information and knowledge. It explores personal and group competencies and proficiencies. It illustrates or "maps" how knowledge flows throughout an organization. Knowledge mapping helps an organization to appreciate how the loss of staff influences intellectual capital, to assist with the selection of teams, and to match technology to knowledge needs and processes.
The intention of K-Mapping is as follows:
  1. To map out target organization’ core business activities.
  2. To discover cross-knowledge sharing opportunities between department and / or section. K-Mapping exercise helps staff discover that some other section or departments may be holding several important knowledge that are useful.
  3. To develop intervention measure once the knowledge gap has been identified and opportunities for cross sharing are discovered. Intervention measures can be formulated to address work issues.
Knowledge Mapping Practices in Organization-Petronas

Significant / Important 
The important of K-Mapping activities workshop delivery flow are typically analyzed findings to surface which business-critical knowledge assets are redundant or require improvement operational excellence.
K-Mapping workshop finding can show business-critical knowledge assets that need acquired, centralized, prioritized and shared across. In addition, an expected outcome is high understanding and appreciation of work.
Review completed process maps; for each process step, review the knowledge resources and determine:
  1. Do we leverage this today?
  2. Is the knowledge available and accessible to everyone who needs it?
  3. Are decisions made with all the right knowledge?
  4. Where should we focus our improvement efforts?
  5. Summarize the analysis:
  6. Create list of key strengths (things we do well should continue)
  7. Create list of key opportunities for improvement (things we need to fix), and expected benefits
Determine the knowledge required by brainstorming, or conduct interviews with the process owners. Categorize the knowledge Content (Explicit, Tacit, Embedded), the Social capital (trust, interpersonal relationships, cultural norms) and; Infrastructure (processes, tools, roles & responsibilities, incentives, etc.).
The scope of this practice is consisting for K-Mapping workshop delivery flow, which is having six key steps as follows:
  1. Share Work challenges
  2. Discover organizational knowledge
  3. Map core business activities
  4. Identify knowledge gap
  5. Uncover knowledge sharing opportunities
  6. Identify K-issues and draft suitable initiatives
The stakeholders involve for this activities as follows:
  1. Senior Manager
  2. Manager
  3. Executive
  4. Non-Executive
  5. Trainer

        For conclusion this project focuses on three steps, that are map core business activities, identify knowledge gaps and uncover knowledge sharing opportunity and knowledge mapping workshop is a method to hearth the K-subsequently develop initiative and create a knowledge roadmap of core business activities such as knowledge inputs and knowledge outputs. In addition, method to discover critical knowledge asset as an input or output in certain process area and subsequently develop K-initiatives which later translated into knowledge roadmap.

Effective Record and Filing Management Workshop

 
Effective Record and Filing Management  Workshop has been held on 24 – 25 August 2010 at Legend Hotel Kuala Lumpur, conducted by Global Intelligent Network (GIN). Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) representatives are from Faculty of Information Technology Industry (FITI), Elya Nabila Abdul Bahri (Assistant Registrar) and Kamsiah Ku Yaakob (Dean Personal Assistant)
 
Participants from educational institution, manufacturing and finance sector had attended this workshop which conducted by the facilitator, Ms Kalpana. All participants had to discuss about record and filing issues and gave the suggestion on how to solve the problem. 


iHack Competition & Workshop 2010, UiTM

Office Skills Workshop, FIIT-2011

Office Skills Workshop organized by the Faculty of Information Technology Industry (FITM) was held on the 12th to 13th January 2011 at Lab GL207, FITM. This workshop aims to improve skills and efficiency of FITM support staff in daily tasks. It was attended by all FITM support staff. Training conducted by En Mohamad Ashri bin Abu Hassan (TDA) and En Muhammad bin Hashim (TDRD).

ERP training by MDEC

ERP training proposed by AsiaTalk Sdn Bhd, to be taken by bachelor students from SCM and KM. This training is composed with 5 days soft skill plus with complementary Linux administration training.

 
Training which will be held in Semester 03/10/11, still welcoming students from any Bachelor’s field, to enroll for this training in this coming short semester. For any student, who are CGPA is 2.5 and above and Malaysian citizen, are eligible to register with Mr. Zuraidy Adnan, D2, FITM. Registration is based on first come first serve basis. Up to date (14th March 2011), there are still ten available seats for this training.

Tahukah ANDA? 

Seramai 5 orang kakitangan akademik Fakulti Industri Teknologi Maklumat diiktiraf sebagai Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) oleh International Software Testing Qualifications Board’s (ISTQB’s).

Hanya 24 permohonan Rayuan Meneruskan Pengajian (Gagal Peperiksaan) diluluskan oleh Jawatankuasa Rayuan Akademik Kali ke-4 yang bersidang pada 30 November 2010.
Dr Setyawan Widyarto, Dekan Fakulti Industri Teknologi Maklumat membentangkan 10 kertas cadangan dalam Mesyuarat Senat Kali Ke-73 (Bil. 01/2011) pada 24 Januari 2011.

49 orang pelajar telah dicalonkan sebagai peserta program “Malaysia Software Testing Board’s Q-Industry Capability Building Programme” Siri  2.

Kertas penyelidikan bertajuk “Challenges of a Project-Based Learning Approach Towards Requirement Engineering” oleh Puan Nor Azliana Akmal binti Jamaludin dan Puan Nur Hafizah binti Hidayat diterima untuk pembentangan di WSEAS International Conferences In Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge, Cambridge, United Kingdom.

Faculty of Information Technology Industry (FIIT) was established in October 1999 with the aim of producing employable ICT graduates, information technology professionals and technopreneurs in fulfilling the demands of both national and international industries.
